Accord Stage Works are proud to offer our latest set design for hire. Honk is a Musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson story The Ugly Duckling, incorporating a message of tolerance. The book and lyrics are by Anthony Drewe and music is by George Stiles (of the British songwriting duoStiles and Drewe). Aimed primarily at children and their parents, the musical is set in the countryside and features Ugly, a duckling who is rejected by everyone but his mother, Ida; a sly tomcat who wants to eat Ugly; and other barnyard creatures.

Accord Stage Works has worked extensively with its design team to come up with a concept of a basic and effective set design to offer a cost effective solution for hire. To be suitable for applications which don’t always follow the traditional proscenium arch style stage set up. 

The set design will work in the traditional designed stages and performance areas,  but offers the flexibility of use for newer multi purpose performance areas or even to be used in a round configuration as depicted in the following set guide and pictures. 

The set has been designed in a way that it can be transported very efficiently with all components breaking down into space saving size thus reducing vehicle size and cost of transportation. 

The Jetty 

This set piece is designed as a performance area with one end having a set of treads the size and width allows for multi performers to use the platform at once. The jetty is finished in a green weathered pond look 

Backdrop, pond reed beds & bull rushes

The Honk backdrop is a 10 metre x 4 metre fully tabbed cloth. The back drop can be supplied with its own freestanding truss and stands to fly or just as a cloth.

The rush beds and bull rushes are free standing props to be located around the pound

The eggs 

The Honk eggs consist of four blue shelled eggs and one larger grey shelled egg for Honk. The eggs come complete with nests, pre formed on a mounting board and have a discrete opening for hatching. 

Pond

The pond is two pieces of commercial grade flooring with a pond colouring applied to. The flooring fixes down with double sided tape to your performance area or can be joined and then just rolled out.
